I missed one visitor among many July visitors in August Bulletin. The person was Tanabe Takehito Sensei, Kyoshi 7 Dan, from Tokyo who visited Kaimuki Dojo on July 29th. He is a yearly visitor. He visited Kaimuki on July 31, 2016 and July 30th, 2017, also. We are very happy to have Tanabe Sensei and others who come and teach us regularly. We should take a good care of them when they come.

17th World Kendo Championships will be held in Incheon, Korea for 3 days, September 14th 15th and 16th. The preliminary league matches for Men’s Team are Hawaii, Malaysia and Mexico. That for Women’s are Hawaii, Poland and Finland. If they are the best out of 3, they become one of the best 16 teams and go into tournament matches. Hawaii Teams are Kevin Chun, Wesley Fujimoto, Christopher Goodin, Seth Harris, Billy Kang, Hyun Kim, Nicholas Matsumoto, Randy Umetsu, Jack Yamada and Koyo Yancey for Men’s Team. Nicole Chun, Akiko Fujimoto, Tina Kaku, Gina Kishimoto and Audrey Parabicoli for Women’s Team. Hawaii officials are Andy Fujimoto, Garrett Matsumoto, Yuichi Miura, Lawrence Chun and Neil Shimabukuro. They have been working so hard. May good luck be with them.

Wahiawa Kendo Club’s yearly Zippy’s ticket sale will start after I come back from Korea. I will be sending email, text messages and calling you on phone besides seeing you in person to ask for your help as usual. Some are no longer associated in kendo but still help our club because they know that fund raised is used for promoting kendo, making friends and raising fine youngsters through kendo practices.

I am trying to form Team Hawaii for Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation Tournament on

Saturday, November 3rd in Kent Washington. Due to participation in World Kendo

Championship, some regulars may encounter hardship to get funds and days off for the

tournament. Let me know as soon as we come back from Korea if you can be Team Hawaii members.

Aiea Taiheiji Kendo Club is hosting their tournament at Halawa District Park Gym on Saturday, November 17th. Let your dojo senseis know if you want to participate.

Hawaii Kendo Federation 1 Kyu and Dan examination is expected to be held on Sunday,

November 18th. Let your dojo senseis know if you are eligible and want to take the

examination.

We have just received Wahiawa Kendo Club T-shirts. Now we have ample number of T-shirts to sell for our club fundraiser. Sizes are S, M, L, XL for $15. XXL size is $17. Let me know if you want to have one.

Nawata Shizuo Sensei of Chiba, asked my age. Then, he said, “Genki desu neh, you are so

active.” I told him that I am just trying to retard deterioration of my body. As everyone knows if you do not use your body parts, those get weakened. Though my body eventually deteriorates enough for me to die, if I can keep myself moving by practice kendo, I may be able to enjoy healthy body and have wonderful life with kendo friends.
